Basics

What is in-game advertising?

In-game adverts are built directly into the games themselves, appearing as objects like any other, and not on a separate layer or screen like banner or video ads. AdInMo’s InGamePlay brand advertising platform serves click-free ad placements directly into your game without interrupting game flow.

How do I monetize my mobile game with AdInMo's InGamePlay platform?

AdInMo’s InGamePlay ad placements generate revenue on a CPM basis. For every valid impression that is filled, you will receive a CPM payout.

What is CPM?

Cost per thousand (CPM), also called cost per mille, is an industry metric used by media buyers when purchasing digital advertising, and is defined as the price of 1,000 ad impressions. CPMs vary depending on the geo, the advertiser and user.

What platforms do you support?

Our SDK monetizes mobile games for  iOS and Android.  The SDK also supports Windows 10 or later  for testing. If you have PC games they are monetizable via some campaigns, contact  for more details.

How often is the SDK updated?

In-game advertising is evolving rapidly so there are regular updates to our SDKs. Use the portal to make sure you receive notifications about the latest updates. All releases are available here. It’s definitely worth regularly updating the SDK as new features and improvements will help with monetization.

What is app-ads.txt? Why do I need it?

App-ads.txt is a basic text file publishers must use to authorize who can sell their ad space digitally. It’s a simple and secure method developed by the IAB so publishers can transparently declare the companies they have authorized to sell their inventory. Ad partners will not bid on your inventory unless a valid app-ads.txt file is present. New demand partners are added all the time so make sure your app-ads.txt is always up-to-date via the portal to not miss any monetization opportunities. You can find out more details here

Do you have a Beta Programme?

Yes! In-game advertising is a new way to monetize your game. We add new features all the time and welcome feedback from our developer community. To get early-access to SDK releases and participate in a closed-beta, email us at support@adinmo.com.

Your feedback is also welcome during open beta to help optimize future updates of new features. Contact your account manager here to find out more.

Getting started

How do I integrate the SDK into my project?

Use the QuickStartGuide which includes a video tutorial to get up and running. More detailed information is available on our documentation site.

What is the next step in the process once I have integrated the AdInMo SDK into my game?

After you’ve successfully integrated the SDK into your project, make sure you’ve set up the game’s app-ads.txt, so you can start monetizing your ad placements. More info on app-ads.txt and the latest file can be found here.

What ad placement sizes do you support?

For display (banner) and video ads we support four Ad Placement aspect ratios: Square, TV, Portrait and Landscape. They map to IAB’s Fixed Size Ad Specifications and support all display and video ad units including banners, skyscrapers and leaderboards.

What versions of iOS, Android and Windows do you support?

For iOS platforms, we support version 11 or above. On Android, we recommend using version 6 or above. For Windows, we support version 10 or later.

Which engines do you currently support for Windows platforms?

Currently we only support Unity Engine on Windows.

Can I use my own ads?

Yes – you can use AdInMo’s CrossPromo feature to promote other games in your portfolio, or you can use our Developer Brand Campaigns feature to launch your own ad campaigns. If you’re interested in becoming an advertiser, get in touch with us on support@adinmo.com for more info.

What ad formats do you support?

AdInMo’s InGamePlay placements support all ad formats: – display, video and SDK 2.8.264 supports audio ads.

Display (banner) ads can be static or animated (rich media). Video ads play 6, 15 or 30 second videos. They can be served to the same placement.

Audio ads have a small icon displayed in-game while the audio is playing. The majority of audio ads are 30 seconds long.

What are Audio Ads?

Audio ads run in the background while your players are playing the game and are another way to monetize your game immersively. You decide where and when in the game an audio advert serves. The audio ad autoplays and is accompanied by a non-clickable icon to signify to the player an advert is playing.

Typically, adverts are 30 seconds long but some might be shorter in duration.

What is Rewarded InGamePlay?

Rewarded InGamePlay rewards the player for viewing immersive in-game ads while playing your game. They have a positive impact on player retention and drive ad monetization. You can find more on how to integrate in our developer doc here.

Developer Portal

Can I see more than just impression data on the portal?

Yes, the performance dashboards show revenue, impressions and other information for your games.

What is 'fill rate'?

Fill Rate is a performance metric that reports the percentage of ad impressions that are purchased by AdInMo’s demand partners. Fill rate is calculated by dividing the total number of ad requests your game sends by the number of paid ads delivered from the ad network. Fill rate, along with CPM and viewability determines your monetization.

The portal shows an error that my app-ads.txt file is out of date/missing. What should I do?

You can download the latest app-ads.txt file on the main page of your portal profile. You need to add the URL containing your app-ads.txt file in your company page on the portal, so we can verify it.

Why can’t I see any impression data on the portal?

You can use the AdinmoManager Debug tool within your project, to check if your placements are generating valid impressions. Also, make sure you’re using the latest version of the SDK. Keep in mind that data can take up to 24 hours to appear on the portal. If, after this time you still cannot see any impression data, please contact support@adinmo.com

Can I see which ad placement generates the most views and revenue?

The option is not currently available on the portal but is something we’re looking to implement in future.

How do I remove a placement or a game?

To remove a game, go to either the overview page or game list and click the bin icon next to the game you wish to remove. Note this will also remove the placements associated with this game.

To remove a placement, go to the game you wish to remove placements for. On the placement list, click the bin icon next to the placement you wish to remove.

How do I check the current status of the service?

You can check by going to our Status page here. Alternatively, you can find it on the top of the developer portal when logged in.

SDK

Unity

What is the oldest version of Unity that is supported by the SDK?

From SDK version 2.4.243 onwards the minimum required Unity version is 2020.3. We encourage everyone to always use the latest version of our InGamePlay SDK and this may require upgrading your Unity version to ensure you have access to all features

Which platforms can I build on using your SDK?

Currently you can build on iOS, Android and Windows.

No ads appear when I run my game or I receive ‘No Image data’ warning in Unity console.

In Unity, ensure the Game and Placement keys have been copied correctly and your game and placements are set to ‘LIVE’ on the portal.

Make sure you have the AdinmoManager prefab in the root of your scene with your game key.

If the issue persists, please contact support@adinmo.com

Ads are running but I can’t see any impression data for my game.

Check if you have released your game as a development build. There are a couple of options for development build when using the AdInMo SDK with Unity:

– Under the AdinmoManager prefab, ensure the ‘Development Build‘ option is not checked when building for release.

– Unity Editor has its own development build under File > Build Settings. Ensure the ‘Development Build’ option is not checked when building for release.

If this does not resolve your issue please contact support@adinmo.com

I’m having issues with Unity/Unity Hub.

If you are having issues with Unity and their services contact Unity support.

Unreal Engine (Early access)

What is the oldest version of Unreal Engine that is supported by the SDK?

The oldest Unreal Engine version is 4.26.2.

No ads appear when I run my game or I receive ‘No Image data’ warning in Unreal Engine console.

In Unreal Editor, ensure the Game and Placement keys have been copied correctly and your game is set to ‘live’ on the portal.

Make sure you have the Adinmo Manager in the root of your scene with your game key.

If the issue persists, please contact support@adinmo.com

Ads are running but I don’t see any data on the portal.

Make sure to select Shipping from your Build configuration. If Development is selected, no impressions will be counted and no revenue will be generated.

Why are my placements not generating any valid impressions?

First step is to ensure you are using the latest version of the AdInMo SDK. You can download the latest versions here.

Next, use the debugging tools available to help identify the issue. A common issue is that placements sizes are too small to generate valid impressions. Please read our section on debugging tools and what information it can provide.

If the issue is not resolved or if you have any questions on the issue please contact support@adinmo.com

Data Protection

How do I manage consent?

You can manage consent via the SDK AdInMo Manager, more on which you can find here.

What is TCF?

AdInMo is an approved vendor of IAB Europe’s Transparency & Consent Framework. The TCF was created to help companies that serve, measure and manage digital and personalised advertising content comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy Directive (ePD) when processing personal data or accessing and/or storing information on a user’s device.

What is a CMP?

A Consent Management Platform (CMP) helps companies manage a user’s consent choices prior to collecting or sharing player data. We recommend using a CMP to ensure compliance with GDPR and to ensure you are able to monetize European traffic.

What is UMP?

A User Messaging Platform is used to gather consent from your app users.

What is COPPA?

AdInMo supports kids games. However, if your game is labelled child-directed in the app store or if your game targets children under 13 in the US, then the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) which regulates the collection and use of personal data of children under the ages of 13 in the US applies. Your game must be compliant with the rules enforced by The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to be monetized by AdInMo’s demand partners.

Payments

What are your payment terms?

Please see our Terms & Conditions.

Why am I not paid for 100% of the ads in my game?

AdInMo serves an ad in all your placements 100% of the time to retain player immersion. However, not all the ads are filled (monetized) all of the time as it depends on the live campaigns and the advertising requirements of AdInMo’s advertising partners.. The performance dashboards in AdInMo’s developer portal allow you to track the percentage of paid ads displaying fill rate and CPM.

How do I get paid?

Payments are monthly on balances over $100 for PayPal and $1000 for Bank Transfer and will be made within the first business day of the month, by 5PM UTC. It may take up to 3 business days for the payment to reach your account. See Terms & Conditions, Clause 6C for full details. Developer Terms & Conditions

What payment methods do you accept?

You can set up payments via PayPal in the developer portal. If you wish to be paid via bank transfer this may affect the payment threshold. Please contact support@adinmo.com to request other payment methods and provide necessary details.

How long it takes for the money to reach my account?

PayPal to PayPal transfers are instantaneous.
